Matchup analysis

Central’s six-game shutout run is the clearest change since the September loss. The Rams will want to carry that defensive organization into a match against Lawrence, Byrd and Johnston while finding Dull and Biehl in scoring positions.

Columbia Falls has already scored three against Central and will look to reproduce that attacking success. Its challenge is to contain a Rams team that has scored at least twice in each of its last six games. Central hosts the rematch at Lockwood; the venue change is firsthand confirmed.

Matchup analysis

Whitefish’s attack has several ways to create goals: Bingham’s scoring, Kimble’s service, Ordway’s finishing and distribution, and contributions from Sliman and Flynn. Laurel’s task is to keep those combinations from becoming repeated chances near goal.

Laurel’s recent shutouts and earlier win over Central provide a strong competitive foundation. Poser’s finishing and Sparks’ involvement give the Locomotives attacking options of their own. Whitefish’s home advantage and higher scoring rate meet a Laurel team that has tightened up defensively at the right time.

Early October 24 outlook, checked October 18: intermittent clouds; around 36°F at 10 a.m., 43°F at noon and 47–52°F through the afternoon. Morning temperatures may be near or below freezing.
